“... bullying needs to be recognized for what it is, assault, and punished to that effect. It’s not bullying and it’s not just a childhood thing; it is physical assault, and should be treated as such. If an adult were to beat up another adult at work they would not get a slap on the wrist, they would be fired from their job, and likely end up with a criminal record. If a student assaults another student, they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for that assault. Anything less is criminal negligence on the part of everyone involved, including the school and the local police.”
